2023 International Conference on Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Fighting for Change

2023 International Conference on Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Fighting for Change

Deadline: 6-May-22

In the 2023 conference proposals, End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) is looking for brave and creative strategies to bring about change – as well as sustaining that change in the face of organizational inertia or even resistance. How are you forging ahead to create new policies and practices, to transform institutions as large and complex as the criminal justice system? How are you overcoming obstacles? And perhaps most important, how are you maintaining your own personal resilience and wellness, so you can continue fighting, even when the barriers to change may seem insurmountable?

For the 2023 conference, they are focusing on the theme of fighting for change. As professionals working to improve criminal justice and community responses to sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking and other forms of gender-based violence, they wish they didn’t have to fight for change. But the reality is, long-term cultural change never comes easily.

Mission

Proposals must generally fit with the mission of the conference, which is to:

  • Improve responses to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, elder abuse, and other gender-based crimes.
  • Enhance collaboration among criminal justice and community professionals through a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Improve the investigation and prosecution of those who perpetrate gender-based violence.
  • Promote effective prevention and risk reduction programs.
Sample Topics

Within that broad mission, the possible topics are unlimited. Examples include:

  • Groundbreaking policies and practices
  • Strategies for overcoming resistance and inertia
  • Innovative collaborations and models
  • Methods for sustaining change
  • Personal resilience and wellness
  • Access and equity of services
  • Research and evaluation to guide practice
  • Case studies that teach and inspire
Selection Criteria

Proposals will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Concrete and innovative recommendations for best practices.
  • Quality and clarity of written materials.
  • Relevance to the field and multiple disciplines.
  • Timeliness with respect to current and emerging issues in the field.
  • Practical and empirical basis, bridging research and practice.
